Victor, a refugee leader from South Sudan, discovered LFFP online and partnered with MJ to organize a weekly Zoom gathering for his community, particularly widowed mothers and other leaders. Each week, they focus on a Peace Tool to equip themselves with the skills needed to live harmoniously during their displacement and to rebuild their communities when they can return home.
Ugandan community organizer Daniel Okello joined the weekly Zoom sessions and invited mothers, some of whom have survived abuse or abandonment. Together, they craft jewelry from lacquer-soaked paper and have expanded their efforts to create beautiful clothing using sewing machines donated by a friend of LFFP. University students from the DC metro area also participate, learning and building connections with these 'neighbors.' |

Mierzan Kourmanov interned with LFFP for four months through the U.S. State Department's Community Solutions Program. Following his internship, he secured a grant to bring MJ and Jerry to Almaty, where they helped him and his wife conduct a Peace Camp for young leaders. Their small non-profit, Kommunity, now utilizes the peace tools he learned, along with creating inspiring videos that promote the pursuit of freedom through inner peace.

I loved working at Peace Club Rome. New to peace education myself, I learned a great deal alongside the students. I saw the students’ growth take place right before my eyes. This profound change and enthusiasm with which they embraced the curriculum energized and inspired me. As a future teacher, I now plan to incorporate the principles practiced at peace club into my classroom, to create a community of trust, honesty, love, and security. |
RomeIn fall 2016, Little Friends for Peace partnered with St. John’s University, Ozanam Scholar’s Program to launch Peace Club Rome. It was warmly welcomed by the Marymount International School, where students were given the opportunity to integrate peace education into their after school program. A series of peace building activities, meditation sessions, and open discussions, were tailored to the engaging and inquisitive elementary schoolers. The club marks a milestone, in globally spreading peace principles among youth.

The club is not your typical club. We were always able to find the balance between having fun and learning valuable lessons. It is refreshing to be a part of a movement that is impactful and real. |
ChinaJoy, a former Georgetown volunteer, surprised LFFP with an invitation to China (insert date here). She wanted LFFP to train her IDEAS Camp staff in Social-Emotional Learning. Jerry and Sarah Magno, former camper and veteran peace camp counselor, journeyed to China to demonstrate LFFP's peace curriculum. The first camp was in Beijing and the second in Changsha, outside of Shanghai.
