Sam Alves — Communications Coordinator and Peace Coach
Hometown: Arlington, Virginia Education: Virginia Tech — B.A.: Sports Media & Analytics; Minors: French & Language Sciences Sam brings a love of storytelling and community to his work at Little Friends for Peace. As a trombone player through college, he believes that peace is like a major chord, where different voices come together in harmony to make a beautiful sound. For Sam, a peaceful world is one where people's differences are celebrated rather than used to divide, where everyone’s gifts are recognized, and respect guides our interactions. He is especially excited to coach and learn from children and neighbors of all backgrounds in the DMV, sharing in their curiosity, humor, and joy. One of Sam's favorite peace heroes is Fr. Daniel Berrigan, SJ, who showed that the only loving response to violence is peace, friendship, and joy. He hopes to share in Fr. Berrigan’s courage, wit, unwavering respect for life —and his love of that ice cream! |

Noa Ortiz — Communications & Creativity Coordinator
Hometown: Quito, Ecuador Noa envisions a peaceful world as a place alive with many colors, each reflecting the uniqueness of every being. She imagines communities where belonging is nurtured, people are valued for the love in their hearts rather than possessions or appearance, and systems care for all citizens unconditionally. In her vision, humanity embraces interdependence over individualism, caring for one another and for Mother Earth as our shared home. With LFFP, Noa looks forward to sharing her creative gifts to support the mission of equality and peace. She hopes to contribute in both “little” and “big” ways, using her imagination and vision to help build spaces of connection and care. Noa draws inspiration from Violeta Parra, the Chilean singer and poet whose art challenged injustice and called for unity. From her, Noa learned the power of words and creativity as tools for resistance and social change. Rooted in compassion and creativity, Noa brings a spirit of vision and hope to LFFP’s mission of building peace—one person, one community at a time. |
