Young Leaders in Training Peace Camp

The Young Leaders in Training Peace Camp is an opportunity for young teenagers (12-14) from a variety of cultures, communities, and backgrounds to come together to experience peace, build character, learn about divisive issues in our society, and brainstorm solutions to these real-world problems. Throughout the week there will be discussions around the concept of peace, importance of service, and various social justice issues that affect the world today. This program will also allow participants to experience direct service and attend an educational field trip to the Smithsonian
The theme for our Peace Camps this year is: “Explore a Path of Peace."
The Young Leaders In Training program will follow this theme by allowing participants to reflect on Little Friends for Peace’s goal of creating environments where campers and counselors alike can experience, learn, and practice peace, in ways our culture may not foster or facilitate. Our primary format and method for these camp sessions are Peace Circles, which will evoke respect from both listening and being listened to, and provide participants with a safe and interactive learning experience. We will use check-ins, songs, story-sharing, games, and service projects daily to empower participants and guide them to leadership.
