Beacon House Afterschoolers Love to Move!

Tuesday or Friday afternoons MJ & Jerry are welcomed at Beacon House in Northeast DC to center the children of the Peace Club and try on the skills of peace makers.  The songs and games open their imagination.  The role playing gives insight into the courage and love we are invited to grow into.

Black History Celebration at American Legion Hall

Activists in Cheverly, Maryland just east of Washington have found many ways to call diverse groups to celebrate and work together.  Each year representatives of churches and civic groups remember their civil rights struggles - years ago and today.  The Perry Peace Kids showed posters   of their peace heroes.  Music and good food energized both young and old.

Colorful Celebration Features Peace Train

Strengthening families in a diverse community is the theme of Emma Violand-Sanchez' re-election campaign for school board in Arlington county, VA.  She heard about LFFP's Peace Camp, came to a parenting workshop and decided to adopt our code words of caring, sharing, cooperating, shining and celebrating for her kick-off event.

Kids Building Peace Club Escorts Perry Kids to MLK Monument

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday brought the Kids Building Peace Club from Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington across the river to play with the Perry Peace Club Kids in Washington, DC.  They danced to the calls of a young Australian instructor.  They shared dreams.

Virginia Teachers Visit Oasis for Workshop with MJ

Members of a Practicing Peace in Daily Life group invited fellow teachers and a school nurse to pick up 'instruments of peace' from MJ to use in their classrooms and with fellow staff at their schools.  Doing it in the natural beauty at the Peace Oasis was a special treat.

Families Meet in Compassion

Through Torture Abolition and Support Coalition we met a beautiful family from Rwanda via Uganda that is still trying to reunite after having been scattered.  Julius and Joy have Bliss, Bless, Bijou, Ruth and Prince Bond.  They have found their oldest boy and are saving and waiting on bureaucracy to allow him here.

Grateful Parents Wrap Presents to Invite Donations

Parents of Summer Peace campers and junior counselors set aside a few hours during the busy pre-Christmas season to wrap presents at Barnes & Noble.  No charge but an invitation to donate to LFFP who amplified the opportunities for their children to shine as peacemakers.
